Michael Wolff, 30, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 in M D
Anderson Cancer Clinic in Houston, TX. Mike had a long 10 month battle with the cancer Rhabdomyosarcoma, subtype Alveolar. It all started with just a back ache which was uncommon to this avid duck hunter. This website is to acknowledge this horrible disease and to fulfill Mike's final request of a wetland area, his true passion in life. It is also to commemorate his wonderful and adventurous life.

The Michael Wolff Memorial Wetland Foundation is a Not-For-Profit Organization. Your contributions may be tax deductible. Current contributions will go for the enhancement of the Michael Wolff Memorial Wetland located in the Marshall Ridge area of the Cache River Wetland area in southern Illinois.

A 2007 Environmental Hero Award was presented to Michael Wolff
(posthumously) by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn on December 27, 2007 at the
Thompson Center in Chicago. The award was accepted by his parents in
the name of the Michael Wolff Memorial Wetland Foundation. The
plaque reads in part:
"THE PUBLIC POLICY OF THE STATE AND THE DUTY
OF EACH PERSON IS TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN A HEALTHFUL ENVIRONMENT FOR
THE BENEFIT OF THIS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS
In 2008 The Daughters of the American Revolution Conservation Commitee recognized the project for outstanding achievment for environmental awareness.
MICHAEL W. WOLFF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship, in the amount of $500 per academic year, is to honor the memory of Michael W. Wolff, a 1996 graduate from the College of Agriculture, and a former student in the College of Science masters program. Before his death in 2004, Michael worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation where he was able to pursue his love for nature and wildlife in the great outdoors. His special area of interest was waterfowl and it's habitat.
The recipient of the scholarship shall:
1. Be an undergraduate in College of Agricultural Sciences or the
College of Science (award alternates between Colleges)
2. Study in an area leading to the enhancement of wildlife habitat,
preservation of the environment and/or conservation of lands for wildlife.
3. Must demonstrate an interest in wildlife habitat through work in
the field, preservation of lands, the general protection of wildlife
environment and/or conservation.
4. Must be in good academic standing.
Annually a $500 scholarship is given within the College of Agriculture and the College of Science at Southern Illinois University in the name of Michael Wolff. The scholarship is given at Honors Day on campus scheduled in April of each year. Please submit the application to one of the following:
